چکیده

Scattering from anisotropic geometries of arbitrary shape is relatively difficult to interpret physically, involving the intricate interplay between material and geometric effects. Insights into complex scattering mechanisms are often enabled by modal methods that decompose response well-understood multipolar resonances. Here, we extend generalized normal mode expansion lossy scatterers. Unique method it decomposes total any resonator modes corresponding isotropic resonator. This disentangles contributions Furthermore, can identify absorption resonances with separate sets modes. We illustrate our considering an infinitely long cylinder concentric metallic/dielectric layers, targeting case effective hyperbolic response. show scanning composition medium, achieve desired effect, including backscattering cancellation.

Light scattering by optically anisotropic scatterers: T-matrix theory for radial and uniform anisotropies.

We extend the T-matrix approach to light scattering by spherical particles to some simple cases in which the scatterers are optically anisotropic. Specifically, we consider cases in which the spherical particles include radially and uniformly anisotropic layers. We find that in both cases the T-matrix theory can be formulated using a modified T-matrix ansatz with suitably defined modes. In a un...

Scattering of Time-Harmonic Electromagnetic Waves by Anisotropic Inhomogeneous Scatterers or Impenetrable Obstacles

We investigate an overlapping solution technique to compute the scattering of timeharmonic electromagnetic waves in two dimensions. The technique can be used to compute waves scattered by penetrable anisotropic inhomogeneous scatterers or impenetrable obstacles. The major focus is on implementing the method using finite elements. We prove existence of a unique solution to the disctretized probl...

Mie scattering by a uniaxial anisotropic sphere.

The field solution to the electromagnetic scattering of a plane wave by a uniaxial anisotropic sphere is obtained in terms of a spherical vector wave function expansion form. Using the source-free Maxwell's equations for uniaxial anisotropic media and making the Fourier transform of the field quantities, the electromagnetic fields in the spectral domain in uniaxial anisotropic media are assumed...

Theory of quantum scattering for quantum scatterers

We have analytically explored the phenomenon of quantum scattering for unfixed quantum scatterers. We have considered short ranged (δ) interaction between the incident ‘particle’ and the scatterer with no interactions among the scatterers, and the scatterers as (i) particle(s) in a 1-D box, (ii) particle(s) in a 1-D double box, (iii) particle(s) in a 1-D grating, (iv) particle(s) in a 2-D recta...

A Macromodeling Approach to Efficiently Compute Scattering from Large Arrays of Complex Scatterers

Full-wave electromagnetic simulations of electrically large arrays of complex antennas and scatterers are challenging, as they consume large amount of memory and require long CPU times. This paper presents a new reduced-order modeling technique to compute scattering and radiation from large arrays of complex scatterers and antennas. In the proposed technique, each element of the array is replac...
